Saturday, June 27th was the 

first Shao Shan Temple 

Animal Friend/Pet Blessing Ceremony.

May all Beings be Happy!

Several dogs, a cat, a bunny (somewhere nearby) all gathered for the occasion. The dogs sat peacefully until Taihaku asked "Who'd like to be blessed next?" at which they all eagerly stood up. Thanks to all who participated in this fun event.

Question & Answer Evening - May 19th

On Tuesday evening, May 19th, Shao Shan Temple hosted a Question and Answer Evening per the request of Sangha members who wanted an opportunity to ask questions in an informal group setting.  

On a warm windy evening, this turned into a delightful story time - with Taihaku sharing tales of Shao Shan Temple's beginnings and her history.  Thanks to all who participated and helped make this occasion what it was.  We look forward to another Q&A evening next year!

Buddha's Birthday! - May 9th

A wonderful spring Buddha's Birthday was celebrated at Shao Shan Temple this past Saturday.  This year's celebration was especially festive and well-attended.  Over 60 people enjoyed a procession through the woods with bells & drums & parasols & bubbles; a delightfully told story of Buddha's birth; poems;  sweet tea offerings; and meditation.  The celebration was concluded with refreshments and accompanied by live music.

Ed Epstein Memorial Service

Yesterday, November 23rd, 2014, was the memorial service for our dear friend and Sangha member, Ed Yushin Epstein.

Over 60 people gathered at Shao Shan Temple for a warm, heartfelt celebration of Ed's life. Thanks to all who participated in this opportunity to express our appreciation and our farewells to Ed .
